17 Years of 4,500 Dispatches and Rescue of Over 900 People
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Fire Lieutenant Kim Dong-sun of Ulsan Nambu Fire Station has been selected as the 'S-OIL Hero Firefighter.'
Ulsan Nambu Fire Station (Chief Yoon Tae-gon) announced on the 15th that Fire Lieutenant Kim was chosen as this year's Hero Firefighter.
At the '2022 Hero Firefighter Awards Ceremony' held at 11 a.m. on the 15th at the Garden Hotel in Seoul, jointly hosted by S-OIL and the Social Welfare Council, Fire Lieutenant Kim Dong-sun will receive a commendation from the Fire Agency Commissioner and a prize of 5 million won.
Now in its 17th year, the S-OIL Hero Firefighter selection event is held annually to select and encourage exemplary firefighters who have risked their lives at various disaster sites to protect the lives and safety of the public.
Since being appointed as a firefighter in Ulsan in September 2005, Fire Lieutenant Kim has responded to over 4,500 incidents over 17 years, rescuing approximately 900 people. He bravely entered flames at major fire scenes such as the hazardous materials factory fire in Maeam-dong, Nam-gu in 2022, the Yeompo Pier ship fire in 2019, and the S-OIL factory fire in 2018, conducting rescue and fire suppression activities.
