Up to 10cm of Heavy Snow in Central Region... 'Severe Cold' Continues
Morning Temperatures Mostly Below Freezing in Seoul, Busan, and Others... Daytime Highs 0 to 9 Degrees
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Park] On Thursday the 15th, heavy snow is expected mainly in the central region. The fine dust concentration, which recently covered the entire country, is expected to be at 'Good' to 'Moderate' levels across all areas.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, snow or rain will fall from morning to night in the central region (excluding central Gangwon and southern East Coast), Jeonbuk, northern inland Gyeongbuk, southwestern inland Gyeongbuk, and western inland Gyeongnam. At night, snow or rain will also fall in northern Jeonnam. Snow or rain is expected to start stopping from the late afternoon in the metropolitan area and northern Chungnam, and mostly cease by night.
Expected snowfall amounts are 3 to 8 cm in the metropolitan area, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, inland Chungnam, and central to northern Chungbuk; 1 to 5 cm on the western coast of Chungnam, southern Chungbuk, northern inland Gyeongbuk, the West Sea 5 islands, and Ulleungdo and Dokdo; 1 to 3 cm in Jeonbuk, northern Jeonnam, and western inland Gyeongnam. Eastern Gyeonggi, central and southern inland and mountainous Gangwon, and northern Chungbuk are expected to accumulate more than 10 cm of snow.

Morning temperatures will drop below freezing in most parts of the country, continuing the severe cold. As of 5 a.m., temperatures in major areas are Seoul -7.7°C, Incheon -7.5°C, Suwon -8.5°C, Chuncheon -9.5°C, Gangneung -3.9°C, Cheongju -8.4°C, Daejeon -7.1°C, Jeonju -6.1°C, Gwangju -5.0°C, Jeju 4.2°C, Daegu -6.6°C, Busan -3.4°C, Ulsan -6.3°C, and Changwon -5.6°C. The highest daytime temperatures are forecasted to be between 0 and 9°C.
Fine dust concentration will be at 'Good' to 'Moderate' levels across all regions due to smooth atmospheric dispersion.

Sea waves will be 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the East Sea and West Sea coastal waters, and 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the South Sea coastal waters. Wave heights in the offshore waters (about 200 km from the coastline) are expected to be 1.0 to 4.0 meters in the East Sea, 0.5 to 3.0 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the South Sea.
