Now in its 5th year, the Small and Medium Business Management Innovation Conference is an event that awards outstanding contributors to management innovation in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and disseminates excellent cases of management innovation to promote the innovative growth of the Korean economy. This year’s conference slogan is "Management Innovation, Beyond Crisis to Leap! - MainBiz Leading the Scale-up and Digital Transformation of SMEs."
Management innovation-type SMEs mainly consist of medium-sized companies with an average business experience of 18 years, sales of 13.92 billion KRW, and 39.8 employees. Since the implementation of the MainBiz certification system in 2006, 621 companies have achieved sales exceeding 100 billion KRW, playing a role as a growth ladder for our economy.
This year’s event recognized the importance of management innovation by expanding the number of awards to a total of 46, including the Bronze Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit (1), Industrial Service Medal (1), Presidential Citation (3), and Prime Minister’s Citation (4).
After the awards ceremony, excellent cases of management innovation were presented by Greenlabs, which received the Industrial Service Medal this year, and Rosettatech, which won the grand prize through a contest. Greenlabs is a cloud-based comprehensive solution company covering the entire process of agricultural production and distribution, leading business model innovation in agricultural management. Rosettatech opened the wireless era in the fire and safety sector with ICT technology, achieving product and service innovation by shifting from post-fire response to a preemptive response system equipped with an early warning system.
Seok Yongchan, president of the MainBiz Association, said, "To alleviate the low growth and polarization faced by the Korean economy and to make a major transition to a robust economic structure centered on SMEs, the scale-up of innovative SMEs is necessary." He added, "The association will transform into a management innovation platform leading ESG (environment, social, governance) management, carbon neutrality, digital transformation, and globalization for the sustainable growth and scale-up of SMEs."
