Beck, who served in the Navy SEALs for 20 years, was part of the elite 'Team Six' and participated in 13 missions and 7 battles, earning numerous medals. Having fought life-and-death battles on countless battlefields, he surprised the world by coming out in 2013.
At that time, Beck confessed, "Since childhood, my body was male but my mind was female," and added, "Even during my military service, I struggled with this gender identity issue." He was married twice and has two sons, but reportedly had to fight his gender identity battle secretly from his family and colleagues.
He underwent hormone therapy to become female and had his beard removed with laser treatment. He gained fame through a 2013 interview with CNN's LGBTQ+ anchor Anderson Cooper. Recently, Beck made headlines by expressing regret over his past actions in an interview.
He said, "Everything that happened to me in the past 10 years ruined my life," and "I destroyed my life and now I am trying to fix it." Beck stopped hormone therapy seven years ago.
In particular, Beck criticized that he was used by related organizations as a propaganda tool to popularize LGBTQ+ issues. He warned, "I was very naive and was used only as a promotional tool in a really bad way," and "Americans need to know the harm transgender-related medical services are causing to children."
