View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kigye Lee) is operating the ‘2023 Winter Vacation University Student Administrative Intern’ program, which helps university students on vacation develop independence by enhancing their understanding of the public sector and providing opportunities to participate in district administration. They are recruiting 50 participants until December 14.
The recruitment target is Yangcheon-gu residents who are currently enrolled or on leave at domestic (specialized) universities. However, students enrolled in the Korea National Open University, cyber universities, computer institutes, specialized schools, credit bank system students, as well as university dropouts, graduates, and graduate students are excluded.
Among the recruits, 15 people (30%) will be given priority selection from the following groups: ▲basic livelihood security recipients and their children ▲North Korean defectors and their children ▲residents of Yangcheon-gu airport noise countermeasure areas (over 15 years) ▲national merit recipients and their children ▲volunteers with outstanding service (over 100 hours of volunteer work within the district in the past year).
Those wishing to apply can submit their applications online through the district office website by December 14. The district office plans to conduct a random computerized draw after 6 p.m. on the 14th and announce the final results immediately on the district office website.
The working period is from January 16 to February 14, with a schedule of 5 days a week, 5 hours per day (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.). Wages will be paid at the ‘2023 Yangcheon-gu living wage’ rate, amounting to 55,785 KRW per day.
In particular, the district has improved the operation plan by abolishing the existing ‘Policy Participation Group,’ which only involved some participants, and newly operating ‘Policy Research Day,’ where all interns propose district administration improvement plans, and ‘Policy Experience Class,’ which includes field visits to major local facilities.
Additionally, the post-work meeting will include new segments for sharing outstanding proposals and presenting work impressions, expanding open dialogue time with the mayor.
