Suncheon National University Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Rocket Research Team Receives Korea Aerospace Research Institute Director Award
'Rocket Dan' Achieves Success in Solid Fuel Propulsion Rocket Research and Development Under Professor Lee Hee-nam's Guidance
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Suncheon National University (President Ko Young-jin) Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering's rocket research club 'Rocketdan' (Advisor Professor Lee Hee-nam) announced that they won both the Gold Prize (Korea Aerospace Research Institute Director Award) and Silver Prize (Korea Science and Creativity Foundation Chairman Award) at the 20th National Aerospace Science Competition held from March to November this year. The competition featured the 'Rocket Academic and Rocket Launch Competition' with participation from 20 universities nationwide.
The 'Rocketdan,' composed of seven students from Suncheon National University's Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering?Kim Ji-woong, Choi Mogeon, Jeon Byeong-geun, Kim Hye-su, Chae Seong-hoon, Kim Seung-hyeok, and Park Byeong-hyeok?has been creatively researching and developing solid-fuel propulsion rockets under the guidance of Professor Lee Hee-nam.
Based on the launch vehicle they directly manufactured, they presented academic papers and competed with prestigious university teams nationwide, achieving excellent results.
Regarding the awards, Professor Lee Hee-nam stated, "Over the past four consecutive years, the students of Suncheon National University's Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering have achieved outstanding results, bringing nationwide recognition to the school. We will continue to support their growth as core personnel in Korea's future rocket research industry, based on their high rocket engineering research capabilities."
