The criteria for selecting meritorious local governments were based on export scale and export growth rate among the 23 cities and counties in Gyeongbuk. As of last October, Cheongsong-gun's export growth rate increased by 47.1% compared to the previous year, achieving the highest growth rate in the province and contributing significantly to the increase in exports.
Cheongsong-gun's main export items include apples, napa cabbage, chili peppers, doenjang (fermented soybean paste), and other processed agricultural products. In particular, the major specialty product, apples, rose by 138% compared to last year, playing a major role in achieving the highest trade export growth rate in the province.
Exports of other processed agricultural products also increased by 112% compared to last year, indicating that Cheongsong diversified its exports into processed agricultural food products following its representative brand, ‘Hwanggeum Jin Apple,’ thereby strengthening its trade competitiveness.
