This program, to be held at Halla University, will run for a total of 8 weeks every Saturday from the 17th of this month until February 25th of next year, excluding Christmas and Lunar New Year holidays.
The program includes six lectures by domestic and international upcycle experts, one upcycle experience program, and finally, a review and award ceremony for short papers directly written and submitted by participating students based on seven weeks of lectures and experiences.
The instructors include six experts: Professor Yoon Soon-jin of Seoul National University Graduate School of Environmental Studies, former chairman of the 2050 Carbon Neutral Green Growth Committee; Kang Chan-soo, environmental specialist reporter at JoongAng Ilbo; Yoon Dae-young, senior specialist at Seoul Saehwalyong Plaza; Professor Heo Kyung-won of Halla University’s Department of Industrial Design; Lee Jennie, CEO of GYI Inc., which produces bags and other items using upcycle materials; and Akira Sakano, founder of Zero Waste Japan.

The program targets high school students from grades 1 to 3, including prospective high school students. For participation inquiries, searching ‘Upcycle Global’ on the Messenger Open Channel allows one-on-one chat inquiries from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Jeju Upcycle Association has signed business agreements with seven upcycle centers nationwide, including Seoul, Incheon, and Daegu, and maintains networks with domestic and international upcycle product manufacturers and experts. Based on this, since 2020, it has annually hosted the ‘Asia Upcycle Jeju Forum’ for the third time this year, inviting domestic upcycle experts and environmental officials from Asia, including Hong Kong.
