Namwon-si Selected for 13 Rural Vitality Projects in 2023

[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-gwon] Namwon City, Jeonbuk, announced on the 7th that 13 projects were selected in the 2023 Rural Vitality contest, securing a project budget of 1.411 billion KRW.

The major projects selected this time include ▲ the ‘Intermediate Support Organization Establishment Project,’ which serves as a bridge between the private sector and administration and supports various roles of village communities, with 210 million KRW ▲ the ‘Rural Visiting Social Service Activity Support Project,’ providing various cultural and leisure services to rural villages excluded from social service benefits due to population decline and aging, with 200 million KRW focused on Daegang-myeon and Sannae-myeon central areas.

Also selected were ▲ the ‘Rural Festival Support Project,’ which supports the activation of local communities centered on specific themes such as rural resident harmony, tradition inheritance, and local resources, with 34 million KRW ▲ the ‘Social Agriculture Activation Project,’ supplying various services such as care, healing, and education to socially vulnerable groups through agricultural activities, with two sites receiving 80 million KRW ▲ and the ‘Rural Idle Facility Regeneration Support Project,’ supporting the use of rural idle facilities by urban young adults, with 70 million KRW allocated to Mokdong Village in Sandong-myeon.

In particular, Namwon City, together with the Namwon Rural Comprehensive Support Center, actively responded to contest projects promoted by Jeollabuk-do and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs from application to evaluation, achieving excellent results by being selected in 13 fields within the province.

Mayor Choi Kyung-sik of Namwon said, “We will continue to actively respond through collaboration with intermediate support organizations to secure national and provincial budgets, making rural areas ‘rural villages that attract people’ and ‘vibrant rural villages,’ creating a living environment full of happiness and smiles for residents.”
