[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on the 7th, 74,714 new COVID-19 cases were added, bringing the total to 27,483,568.
The number of new cases on this day increased by 7,312 compared to a week ago on the 30th of last month (67,402 cases). It decreased by 2,890 compared to the previous day (77,604 cases).
The number of critically ill patients currently hospitalized was 441, down by 2 from the previous day. The number of critically ill patients has remained above 400 for 19 consecutive days. As of 5 p.m. the previous day, the ICU bed occupancy rate was 31.7%, and the occupancy rate for moderate and general beds in infectious disease-dedicated hospitals was 21.1%.
There were 54 new COVID-19 related deaths reported on this day, more than double the 24 deaths reported the previous day. The total cumulative deaths reached 30,847, with a fatality rate of 0.11%.
