Busan Port Authority Selected as 'Rural ESG Practice Certified Company'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan Port Authority (BPA) was selected as an ‘Agricultural and Fishing Village ESG Practice Recognized Company’ by the Foundation for Cooperation between Large, Medium, and Small Enterprises and Agriculture and Fisheries on the 6th.
The ‘Agricultural and Fishing Village ESG Practice Recognition System’ was newly implemented this year by the Foundation for Cooperation between Large, Medium, and Small Enterprises and Agriculture and Fisheries to actively respond to changes in internal and external conditions of agricultural and fishing villages, such as the risk of local extinction and the transition to carbon neutrality in rural areas.
BPA contributed to the Agricultural and Fishing Village Win-Win Cooperation Fund and established a specialty product direct sales center for the Idong fishing village, which had been struggling with unstable sales prices due to lack of proper distribution channels.
They also remodeled an idle building to support a village restaurant, and employees participated in support projects by volunteering in activities such as wallpapering and floor cleaning.
For the Gongsu fishing village, BPA supported the development of new fishing village experience and leisure programs as well as promotional characters, and helped with the storage warehouse for program teaching materials and the production of educational videos for the experience programs.
With BPA’s support, the income from experience programs at the Gongsu Fishing Village Experience and Leisure Village increased by 50% compared to last year.
They also promoted projects to improve living conditions for the welfare enhancement of residents in the Jedeok fishing village in Jinhae-gu, Changwon City, and Busan.
