This project is an expansion of the overseas study experience program, which was previously available only to a few students, to include all third-year middle school students in the district. The county increased its budget contribution and supports the project through the Goseong Education Foundation.
This initiative was the result of collaboration among Goseong-gun, the Goseong Education Foundation, and local school principals to provide beautiful memories to students graduating middle school who have not experienced school trips or field trips in the past three years due to COVID-19.
At a meeting held in August with parent representatives from four local middle schools, opinions on the student domestic cultural exploration were presented.
Subsequently, discussions were held regarding preliminary inspections and event progress, and the Goseong Education Foundation and Goseong Office of Education agreed to establish safety management plans for each school and to safely conduct the student domestic cultural exploration program under the responsibility of the school principals.
Accordingly, Goseong-gun, the Goseong Education Foundation, and local middle schools formed a TF team to quickly communicate opinions, simplify decision-making, share the implementation schedule, and prepare the program.
The students visited Aqua Planet, the Bunker of Light, and Maze Land, enjoyed boat riding experiences, observed columnar joints, visited the Aerospace Museum, and watched performances at Derma Park. They also had time to enjoy recreation together, recovering their bodies and minds exhausted by COVID-19 and experiencing the joy of traveling with friends.
They said, “It was a joyful and meaningful time because we could go to places we usually wanted to visit with friends,” and “We were satisfied with the accommodation and meals, and it became the greatest memory during our middle school life.”
