View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] The People Power Party criticized the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions' (KCTU) general strike and all-out struggle rallies held nationwide on the 6th, urging them to "return to work."
Joo Ho-young, the floor leader of the People Power Party, said at the party's floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, "As the strikes by other unions except the Cargo Solidarity have ended and lost momentum, they are mobilizing all affiliated organizations to rekindle the spark," adding, "Their stated reason is to block anti-labor policies, but in reality, it is nothing but an anti-livelihood and anti-government struggle."
Joo also stated, "The KCTU has become a stronghold of anti-labor," and "They always claim to represent all workers, but they have committed all kinds of illegal acts just to protect the privileges of some elite union members."
He continued, "The patience of the people has reached its limit. The MZ generation shouted for the expulsion of the KCTU and stopped the KCTU's relay strikes," emphasizing, "We urge the KCTU to awaken and make a great transformation. We hope they will promptly stop the strike and return to work."
Han Moo-kyung, a member of the People Power Party and the secretary of the National Assembly's Industry, Trade, Energy, Small and Medium Enterprises Committee, said, "As of the previous day, the Cargo Solidarity situation has continued for 12 days, causing difficulties in securing container transport personnel," adding, "We will strictly respond according to law and principles without yielding to political struggles that have lost legitimacy and harm the people. We earnestly hope the Cargo Solidarity will stop the illegal strike that holds the national industry and the people hostage and return."
Additionally, Kim Jung-jae, the secretary of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, pointed out, "Due to the Cargo Solidarity's general strike, logistics damage has exceeded 3 trillion won, and more than 100 gas stations have run out of fuel," criticizing, "Despite this situation, the Democratic Party is trying to pass 'commissioned legislation' that suits the KCTU rather than restraining the KCTU's unreasonable behavior. They are truly walking the path of becoming a subcontractor to the KCTU."
Im Yi-ja, the secretary of the Environment and Labor Committee, also said, "The KCTU is supporting the Cargo Solidarity, which ignores the government's order to resume work, aiming to lead the struggle to victory and block the government's anti-labor policies. I hope the KCTU reflects on whether they are truly the image that workers and the people want," adding, "They should consider who this struggle is for, whether it is for vested interests, and whether it is a political struggle to tarnish the Yoon Seok-yeol government. The people will surely judge you."
