[2022 Capital Investment Awards] Korea Investment & Securities Expands AI Research to Overseas Stocks and Unlisted Companies

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Korea Investment & Securities received the Best Research Award at the '2022 Asia Capital Investment Awards.' The award was given in recognition of expanding the coverage of overseas stocks through the artificial intelligence (AI) research tool AIR (AI Research) and enhancing the content of existing research reports to improve their delivery effectiveness.
The Research Division of Korea Investment & Securities covered the largest number of stocks domestically last year, analyzing a total of 204 stocks. Additionally, 477 stocks were separately analyzed through the AI research tool AIR. AIR has played a significant role not only in overseas stock analysis but also in analyzing small and mid-cap stocks. It is evaluated to have contributed to resolving investors' information gaps by timely analyzing stocks located in research blind spots.

Since February this year, the division has analyzed promising unlisted companies such as Dunamu, Zigbang, and K Bank through regular reports named the 'V Series.' The V Series adopts a method where specialized analysts responsible for each industry sector discover and introduce promising unlisted companies within their respective sectors. An ESG dedicated team has also been newly established and is currently operating. The team analyzes 2 to 3 ESG-related issues monthly, including climate change response, ESG finance, and ESG-related policies and trends, publishing the 'ESG DIGEST.' Key topics include the EU CBAM, biodiversity, expansion of RE100 membership, and analysis of the carbon emissions trading market.
