Prosecutors Indict Korea National Sport University Coach Without Detention for 'Hockey Stick Assault'
[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Kyung-jun] A coach of the weightlifting team at Korea National Sport University was brought to trial for assaulting students with a hockey stick under the pretext of disciplining them.
The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 2nd that Coach A of the Korea National Sport University athletic team was indicted without detention on charges of assault with a weapon, injury, and coercion for assaulting students with a hockey stick.
Coach A is accused of assaulting students he supervised with a hockey stick and other objects in the campus dormitory in May of this year. He is also charged with subjecting students to harsh disciplinary measures such as gathering them and forcing them to perform physical punishment.

The police received complaints from the victims and their parents in June, investigated the case, and forwarded Coach A to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment in August.
