View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] The number of new COVID-19 cases has been decreasing compared to the previous week for the fifth consecutive day.
According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters, as of midnight on the 2nd, 52,987 new COVID-19 cases were reported, bringing the total to 27,208,800.
The number of new cases on this day was 4,092 fewer than the previous day (57,079) and 711 fewer than a week ago on the 25th of last month (53,698). Since the 28th, the daily number of new cases has been lower than that of the previous week.
On the other hand, the number of critically ill patients hospitalized increased by 30 to 460 compared to the previous day. As of 5 p.m. the previous day, the ICU bed occupancy rate was 32.1%, and the general bed occupancy rate at infectious disease-dedicated hospitals was 23.4%.
