Professor Jo Dong-cheol Appointed as New President of KDI
[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Son Seon-hee] Professor Jo Dong-cheol (61) was appointed as the new president of the Korea Development Institute (KDI) on the 1st.
KDI announced that the Economic and Humanities Research Council under the Prime Minister held its 334th board meeting on the same day and made this decision. As KDI is a government-funded research institute, the head of the institution is appointed by the board of the Economic and Humanities Research Council.
Appointed as the 17th president of KDI, Professor Jo has previously served as a member of the Financial Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of Korea, a member of the Presidential National Economic Advisory Council and the Future Planning Committee, senior economist and head of the Macroeconomic and Financial Research Department at KDI, and a professor in the Department of Economics at Texas A&M University in the United States.

The term of the new president Jo starts from this day and lasts until November 30, 2025, for three years. He will be evaluated by the Economic and Humanities Research Council on management performance and research achievements.
