View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jung] Hanwha Solutions Q CELLS Division (Hanwha Q CELLS) System Development Center announced on the 30th that it has obtained the qualification as an energy system certification testing laboratory from the global certification body UL Solutions.
Recognized for its technical capability to verify product safety and quality, Hanwha Q CELLS will now be able to conduct global certification tests for energy system products such as inverters (power converters) and ESS (energy storage systems) developed in-house domestically.
UL Solutions is a leading U.S. safety certification organization that evaluates the safety of electrical and electronic products and grants certification to products that meet country-specific standards. Hanwha Q CELLS has acquired both the UL certification testing laboratory qualification, effective for securing North American export routes, and the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) certification testing laboratory qualification, essential for European exports. This has laid the groundwork for Hanwha Q CELLS to accelerate its entry into the energy system markets in North America and Europe.
Through this, Hanwha Q CELLS has demonstrated that it possesses a fair and rigorous safety verification environment and excellent verification technology that meet international standards. Furthermore, Hanwha Q CELLS will be able to shorten product development costs and schedules by testing and obtaining certification for energy system products developed in-house at its domestic development center without sending them to overseas testing laboratories.
Recently, Hanwha Q CELLS has been expanding its business into the energy system field, which helps efficiently store and use energy. This year, it launched 'Q.HOME CORE,' a residential energy solution combining inverters and ESS, and is supplying it to Europe, the U.S., Australia, and other markets where the residential solar market is active. Hanwha Q CELLS plans to develop and supply new residential energy system products suitable for the North American and European markets in the future.
Jungkwon Hong, Head of Hanwha Q CELLS System Business Division, said, “By acquiring the UL certification testing laboratory qualification, Hanwha Q CELLS has proven its excellent safety verification technology in the energy system field,” adding, “We will continue to actively develop and supply safe and reliable energy system products to accelerate our entry into the global market.”
Wesley Kwak, General Director of UL Solutions, said, “UL Solutions has confirmed through multifaceted verification that Hanwha Q CELLS possesses a trustworthy testing environment and capabilities,” and added, “We will actively cooperate to help Hanwha Q CELLS develop and supply competitive products in the global market.”
