Gwangju Seo-gu to Host 'Irak Festival' on the 30th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Seo-gu District Office of Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim I-gang) announced on the 25th that it will hold the festival "I(Ri)Rak(Rak) Festival," a festival with village communities, at the 5·18 Memorial Culture Center Daedong Hall on the 30th.
This event, themed "Healing," is a festival-style exchange platform where village communities, village activists, and residents participate to share the achievements of village community activities so far, promote communication and harmony among residents, and connect the settlement of village activities.
From the festival planning stage, Seo-gu formed a promotion council with village activists to discuss the festival direction, and at the opening event, performances and flash mob performances directly participated in by village community members will be showcased.
A talk concert is also planned where Seo-gu Mayor Kim I-gang and village activists will candidly share Seo-gu's village vision and support directions.
Seo-gu will share the achievements of village activities carried out throughout the year through the Village Community Pride Contest and provide village project funds to nine selected outstanding communities.
Additionally, there will be a congratulatory performance by popera singer Cross4men, as well as various experience booths and event zones.
Seo-gu Mayor Kim I-gang said, "I believe village communities are precious seeds that change the village," and added, "Through these community seeds, I ask for the residents' great interest and participation so that our village can become happy and enjoyable."
Meanwhile, to actively and voluntarily revitalize village communities, Seo-gu has formed the "Seo-gu Village Network I-Rak" since 2018 and has been promoting the I-Rak Festival, a community exchange platform, together with the I-Rak Network.
"I-Rak," composed of about 60 Seo-gu village activists, strives to create village communities that solve village problems on their own and to promote communication and harmony among 100 communities.
