[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency has decided to take a strict stance against the general strike announced for the 24th by the Cargo Solidarity Headquarters of the Public Transport Union of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions.
On the 23rd, the provincial police agency held an inspection meeting regarding the collective refusal of transport by the Cargo Solidarity and discussed countermeasures focusing on cargo vehicle operation sites such as major workplaces in Gapo New Port in Changwon City and Busan New Port.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Kim Byung-soo and senior police officers from the provincial police agency's security, intelligence, and investigation divisions, while frontline police participated online.
The provincial police agency plans to apprehend on-site those who obstruct transport, occupy lanes, assault transport drivers or police officers, or damage vehicles.
