[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City announced on the 23rd that it will hold a large-scale cheering event at the Incheon Football Stadium on the day of the group stage match of the Korean national football team participating in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
The city plans to hold the cheering event while watching the giant electronic scoreboard together with the Red Devils Incheon Branch, the cheering squad for the national football team.
As a large number of people are expected to gather at the stadium, the city has requested cooperation from the fire department and police and plans to increase safety personnel more than usual. Also, since the match ends late at night, citizens participating in the cheering event are asked to use private cars.
The first group stage match against Uruguay on the 24th, which will be a crucial game to advance to the Round of 16 in the World Cup, will open the stadium from 8 p.m.
The Korean national team will compete in Group H against tough opponents such as Ghana (28th at 10 p.m.) and Portugal (December 3rd at 12 a.m.).

An official from Incheon City said, "This cheering event was prepared to wish for the Korean national team's good performance and the revival of the glory of the 2002 World Cup, and to provide an opportunity for citizens to unite," adding, "We will prepare the cheering event with the safety of citizens as the top priority."
