Kumho Construction Holds Ceremony with Gyeongju City to Celebrate Acquisition of Environmental New Technology Certification and Verification

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] Kumho Construction announced on the 21st that it held a commemorative ceremony celebrating the acquisition of environmental new technology certification and verification from the Ministry of Environment for the GK-SBR method (continuous batch activated sludge advanced sewage treatment technology), jointly developed with Gyeongju City, Gyeongsangbuk-do.
The event held at the main building of Gyeongju City Hall was attended by key officials including Joo Nak-young, Mayor of Gyeongju, and Lee Myung-jae, Head of Civil Plant Division at Kumho Construction, to celebrate the acquisition of the environmental new technology certification and verification.
The GK-SBR method is a sewage treatment technology jointly developed by Kumho Construction and Gyeongju City. By improving and researching existing sewage treatment technologies, this method can remove river pollutants more efficiently. Since Kumho Construction and Gyeongju City signed a joint research and development and commercialization agreement in April last year, the technology has been recognized for its excellence by the Ministry of Environment, obtaining environmental new technology certification (No. 615) and verification (No. 269) on the 1st of this month.

A Kumho Construction official stated, “The acquisition of this environmental new technology certification and verification is the first case of local governments and companies cooperating to improve and develop sewage treatment technology, presenting a new model of public-private joint research. We will do our best to contribute to reducing water pollution in public water bodies such as rivers and lakes and to preserving the water environment by utilizing the GK-SBR method.”
