Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce, 1st Gwangyang City Entrepreneurs' Day Ceremony
Proclamation of New Corporate Spirit on the Theme of 'Respect, Gratitude, Responsibility, and Duty'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Lee Baek-gu) held the ‘1st Gwangyang City Entrepreneurs' Day’ commemorative event on the 21st at the Gwangyang City Community Center, attended by over 300 people including the mayor of Gwangyang, heads of related organizations, social group leaders, citizens, and businesspeople.
The designation of November 4th as Gwangyang City Entrepreneurs' Day commemorates November 4, 1981, when the site for Korea’s second steel mill was confirmed at Gwangyang Bay. The first event focused on the theme of ‘Respect and Gratitude, Responsibility and Duty,’ emphasizing harmony between businesses and citizens.
Side events included ‘busking,’ a ‘citizens’ soccer tournament,’ and a ‘tour of Gwangyang Port.’ During the commemorative ceremony, the ‘Gwangyang Love Photo Exhibition,’ which captured the history of Gwangyang’s development, was held alongside a ‘commemorative video’ showcasing the daily lives of entrepreneurs, the past and present of the city, and its future vision, sharing the significance of ‘Entrepreneurs' Day.’
Following this, at the ‘New Entrepreneurship Spirit Declaration Ceremony,’ Chairman Lee Baek-gu gave a lecture, and representatives from over 20 companies participated in the declaration ceremony, proclaiming a pledge to create good jobs, enhance corporate ethical values, and grow together with the local community through environmentally responsible management. This received empathy and positive responses from attendees.
The ‘New Entrepreneurship Spirit’ is a corporate movement spreading nationwide, with the Seosan Chamber of Commerce and Industry scheduled to hold its declaration ceremony on November 23, and the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry on November 25, following Gwangyang.
In the second part of the event, the ‘Gwangyang City Major Economic Issues Report Meeting’ featured explanations by experts in fields such as the secondary battery industry, hydrogen battery industry, and port industry, followed by a Q&A session.
Awards were presented as follows: Gwangyang City CEO Award to Kim Jun-hyung, CEO of S.N.N.C Co., Ltd.; Best Worker Award to Yoo Cheol-jong, Manager at POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks; Industrial Peace Award to Lee Hee-geun, CEO of POSCO M-TEC Co., Ltd.; Outstanding Entrepreneur Award by a Member of the National Assembly to Kim Tae-seon, CEO of Muchang Co., Ltd.; Appreciation Plaques from the Gwangyang Bay Free Economic Zone Authority to Kim Ok-ja and Moon Soo-kyung, CEOs of Yuwon Industrial Technology Co., Ltd.; Appreciation Plaque from Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority to Jung Geum-rang, CEO of Daepyeong Co., Ltd.; and the Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce Grand Prize to Min Kyung-jun, CEO of POSCO Chemical Co., Ltd.
