View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Noh Kyung-jo] Dongbu Construction announced on the 18th that it has won the contract for the 1st section of the 500kV High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) East Coast-Shingapyeong transmission line (T/L) construction.
The total construction cost is approximately 51.6 billion KRW, with Dongbu Construction acting as the lead contractor holding a 58% stake. This electrical sector contract win comes one month after the power supply facility duct construction project in the Incheon area last month.

The East Coast-Shingapyeong transmission line construction project is being carried out to ensure stable power system connectivity between the East Coast and the metropolitan area, in accordance with the government's 9th Basic Plan for Electricity Supply and Demand. The project is scheduled for completion by June 2025, with a total line length of 230 km, including 140 km in the eastern section and 90 km in the western section. The number of transmission towers to be constructed is 440, passing through 10 cities and counties including Gyeongbuk, Gyeonggi, and Gangwon provinces. Dongbu Construction plans to build 38 transmission towers and approximately 19 km of power lines in the areas of Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk, and Samcheok-si, Gangwon-do.
