Prosecutors Conduct Additional Search of No Woong-rae's Residence... Seize Large Amount of Cash Bundles (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The prosecution is conducting an additional search and seizure at the residence of Democratic Party lawmaker No Woong-rae on the 18th, who is accused of bribery and violations of the Political Funds Act.
The Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 2 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Young-chul) has sent prosecutors and investigators to No's residence since the morning to secure materials related to the allegations.
In particular, this search and seizure is known to be aimed at securing the 'bundles of cash' discovered during the first search on the 16th. At the time of the initial search, cash was not included in the warrant's seizure targets, so it was only sealed, and the prosecution reissued the warrant from the court to execute the seizure on this day.
The prosecution is reported to have secured about 300 million won in cash, including bundles of 50,000 won bills, during the search. Some of the bundles found inside a wardrobe at the residence were reportedly inside envelopes bearing the name of a specific company.
No is accused of receiving a total of 60 million won from businessman Park in the form of election expenses for the 21st National Assembly election from February to November 2020 or various solicitations (charges of bribery, mediation bribery, and violation of the Political Funds Act).
Park is also under investigation for providing money and goods to former Democratic Party Deputy Secretary-General Lee Jung-geun in exchange for solicitations. Lee was arrested and indicted on the 19th of last month on charges including receiving illegal political funds totaling 940 million won from Park.

The prosecution plans to verify the source of the cash stored at No's residence, considering the possibility that Park's money was mixed in. However, No has denied any wrongdoing, stating that about 100 million won came from condolence money and funds from a publication commemorative event.
