Changwon Special City Proposes Key Projects to Build Northeast Asia Port Logistics Hub

On the 17th at 11:30 a.m., Changwon Special City shared municipal issues for building a Northeast Asian port logistics hub city with Cho Seung-hwan, Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, who visited Changwon for an on-site inspection of marine and fisheries policies, and requested the smooth promotion of major pending projects.
As a special city with a population of over one million, Changwon is the only city in Korea that has domestic trade ports (Masan Port, Jinhae Port, New Port·Jinhae New Port) and a 313 km coastline. Changwon City views the harmonious development of ports and the city as a key element of regional development, and has requested support from the central government for key projects aimed at harmonious port development in line with urban development plans.
The major pending projects proposed by Changwon City this time are ▲ Expansion designation of the port hinterland near Jinhae New Port ▲ Construction of the port hinterland road (Macheon~Ungdong Hinterland Complex) ▲ Establishment of a marine leisure experience center in the Masan Port waterfront space ▲ Continued promotion of the Masan Port access road construction project ▲ Request for participation rights in the Central Port Policy Deliberation Committee ▲ Establishment of a clean seawater supply system, totaling six projects.
Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, “Since the proposed pending projects are projects that must be promptly promoted for balanced regional development without disparities, I ask for active and positive consideration.”
