[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yuk Miseok] Persimmons and pears produced in Gurye, Jeonnam have been shipped for export.
Gurye County (Governor Kim Sunho), which is actively promoting export encouragement policies to stabilize domestic agricultural product prices and increase farm income, held a loading ceremony for exporting Gurye persimmons to Hong Kong on Monday, November 14, 2022, at the Gurye Nonghyup Agricultural Product Distribution Center (APC) together with the Gurye County Council, Gurye Nonghyup executives and employees, and producer farmers.
At this event, a total of 67 tons were exported, including 28 tons of 10kg Gurye persimmons and 39 tons of pears.
This volume represents an increase of about 8 tons of persimmons and 6 tons of pears compared to last year.
Gurye persimmons, cultivated with clear water flowing from the deep valleys of Jirisan Mountain, are high-quality agricultural products with high sugar content and firmness.
Gurye County stated that cultivation technology has been enhanced through specialized education and consulting, and the high technical skill in producing large-sized Gurye persimmons also contributed to this export.
Governor Kim Sunho and Nonghyup officials said, “Through the development of new varieties, improvement of cultivation techniques, and the passion of farmers, we will work together to raise the reputation of Gurye persimmons and pears not only in exports but also in the domestic market.”
