View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] LG Uplus announced on the 16th that it has signed a business agreement with Huikgo, a smart mobility platform specialist company, for a shared personal mobility business based on Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) high-precision positioning.
High-precision positioning is a service that improves the accuracy of satellite navigation devices (GPS), which have an error range of several tens of meters, to a few centimeters by using mobile communication and reference stations.
LG Uplus provides nationwide coverage by linking its own reference stations and the National Geographic Information Institute's reference stations with the RTK server, and is being used in various business fields such as smart ports, golf courses, and autonomous vehicles.
Huikgo operates a shared personal mobility business using electric kickboards in major regions nationwide, including Seoul, Gwangmyeong, Gangneung, and Busan.
Through this agreement, LG Uplus will provide LTE communication lines and high-precision positioning services to Huikgo's shared personal mobility devices such as electric kickboards. Through this, LG Uplus will provide accurate location information to ensure that Huikgo's shared kickboards are parked in safe locations and support the transportation card payment service scheduled to begin next year.
Previously, LG Uplus provided LTE-M1 communication lines to Seoul's shared bicycle service "Ddareungi" in 2020.
Jung Sook-kyung, head of LG Uplus's wireless business division, said, "Based on the strategic partnership between LG Uplus, a leader in RTK technology, and Huikgo, which has strengths in shared mobility, we expect to contribute to innovation in the smart mobility platform sector in the future."
