Park Hong-ryul, Mayor of Mokpo, Moon Cha-bok, Chairperson of the City Council, Han In-kwon, Head of the Mokpo Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, Lee Han-cheol, CEO of Taewon Passenger Transport and Yujin Transport, Park Chun-yong, Chairman of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Union of the National Automobile Workers' Union, and Kim Yong-nam, Branch Chief of Taewon and Yujin branches, held a representatives' meeting on the 15th and signed an agreement to alleviate the mobility inconvenience of 2023 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) examinees and transportation-vulnerable groups, and to improve workers' treatment.
According to the agreement, Mokpo City adjusted the union's 2022 wage increase demand of 7.4% to a 3.2% (100,000 KRW) increase, and the wage compensation for the adjustment of full attendance days was shortened from the initially requested one year to six months, which will be separately budgeted for next year.
The city bus union withdrew the strike and will resume normal operation on all routes from 5 a.m. on the 16th, and the companies will present a special management improvement plan by December 31 and consult with Mokpo City.
Meanwhile, the special buses prepared by the city for CSAT examinees on the 16th, the day of the preliminary gathering, and the 17th, the exam day, will operate as planned. On the 16th, 30 special buses will be dispatched to high schools to transport examinees to 8 test sites, and on the 17th, 27 special buses will operate to transport examinees from 10 regional gathering points to 8 test sites.
