Wando-gun Invests 6.1 Billion Won This Year to Create Safe Road Environment
Improvement and Repaving of Island and Rural Roads

View original image[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 15th that it has secured 6.17 billion KRW this year to promote alignment improvement and repaving work on county and rural roads to create a safe road environment.
So far, maintenance has been completed on 40 routes and 60 locations of county and rural roads, and work is underway at 5 locations.
The main projects include asphalt overlay on sections experiencing traffic inconvenience due to road cracks and uneven subsidence, road widening and expansion on sections with narrow carriageways posing traffic accident risks, and improvement works on poorly aligned roads to secure visibility.
To ensure smooth traffic flow and safety and provide a pleasant road environment for road users, reinforcement of road facilities such as road signs, lane delineators, and guardrails, as well as maintenance of the environment along major arterial roads, pothole repairs, and removal of sediment from drainage facilities have also been carried out.
In cooperation with the Wando Police Station, traffic safety signs, speed bumps, safety fences, and anti-slip pavement were inspected at 40 child protection zones in the area, and facilities that are old, damaged, or in need of improvement will be maintained to secure safe passageways for children.
Cha Jae-cheol, Director of Wando Construction Department, said, “We will continue to do our best to create an optimal road environment to provide a better road traffic environment not only for residents but also for tourists visiting our county.”
