Gwangju Science Museum "Let's Observe Jupiter, Saturn, and the Moon in One Place"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The National Gwangju Science Museum will hold the nighttime astronomical observation programs 'Starlight School' and 'Night Sky Observation Leader' on the 30th of this month and the 1st of next month, respectively. Participant recruitment begins on the 15th.
Starlight School is open to anyone interested in astronomy, and teams of up to 4 people can participate.
The program includes fascinating astronomy stories set against the backdrop of space, finding seasonal constellations, and astronomical observations using the largest starlight observatory main telescope in domestic science museums.
Night Sky Observation Leader is open to teams of up to 3 people from 3rd grade elementary school and above.
This program involves learning about the types and principles of astronomical telescopes, assembling and operating telescopes directly, and freely observing celestial bodies.
Participants also experience astrophotography using telescopes and smartphones and can take home the celestial photos they have taken as souvenirs.
If astronomical observation becomes difficult due to weather conditions, alternative programs such as making a Dobsonian telescope miniature will be offered.
The nighttime astronomical observation programs may change depending on the COVID-19 situation.
