SKC Investment Firm 'SK PIC Global' Receives Zero Waste Landfill Certification
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] SK PIC Global, an investment company in SKC's chemical business, announced on the 15th that it has received the 'Zero Waste Landfill' certification from the global safety certification company UL.
SK PIC Global's Ulsan plant, which earned the Gold grade, has an annual waste recycling rate of approximately 99%. Byproducts generated during wastewater treatment are recycled into fertilizers and other products, and sodium carbonate emitted during the process is reused in metal smelting processes at other business sites.
For household waste generated in offices and cafeterias, activities such as improving separation facilities and raising awareness of waste sorting have been carried out to increase the recycling rate.
Additionally, plans are underway to recycle waste synthetic resin as auxiliary fuel and dust waste for raw material extraction. The company intends to pursue a zero landfill strategy in the future and aims to achieve the Platinum grade.
SKC plans to accelerate efforts to increase waste recycling rates, leveraging SK PIC Global's Gold grade achievement. Beyond expanding recycling at individual business sites, SKC is actively working on a waste plastic resource recovery project that pyrolyzes waste plastic collected domestically back into oil, aiming to address environmental issues caused by waste.
