LG Display Obtains Eco-Friendly Certification for IT High-End Panels
Obtained 'Eco Product' Certification from SGS
High Ratings in Recycling Rate and Energy Efficiency
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Yeju] LG Display's high-end IT panels have received eco-friendly product certification.
LG Display announced on the 15th that its high-end liquid crystal display (LCD) panels for IT use, measuring 27 inches or less and used in monitors, laptops, and tablets, have obtained the 'Eco Product' certification from SGS (Societe Generale de Surveillance), a global inspection and certification organization based in Switzerland. This certification is awarded to eco-friendly products that comply with global environmental regulations throughout the entire process from production to use and disposal, minimizing the use of harmful substances.
LG Display's IT LCD panels received high evaluations in terms of ▲recycling rate ▲reduction of harmful substances ▲resource efficiency ▲energy efficiency.
From the panel development stage, LG Display designed the components for easy replacement and increased the use of single metals such as iron, improving the recycling rate at disposal to an industry-leading level of about 80%.
In addition to complying with the European Union (EU) 'Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS)', LG Display does not use harmful chemicals or conflict minerals, and minimizes the use of rare materials that may cause environmental pollution during the mining process.
LG Display plans to further strengthen its leadership in the high-end IT LCD panel market by adding eco-friendliness to differentiated LCD technologies such as IPS (In-Plane Switching), its independently developed wide viewing angle technology, and in-TOUCH, which integrates touch sensors into the panel.
