Gwangju Buk-gu Wins Prime Minister's Award at National Residents' Autonomy Expo for 21 Consecutive Years

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju City continued its great achievement of winning awards for 21 consecutive years at the National Residents' Autonomy Expo.

According to Buk-gu on the 14th, at the ‘21st National Residents' Autonomy Expo’ held at BEXCO in Busan from the 10th to the 12th, it won a total of six awards, including the grand prize.

This expo featured 60 excellent case groups nationwide selected through document and interview evaluations, and the final award levels were determined by judging exhibition hall operations and presentations of outstanding cases.

Accordingly, Buk-gu achieved remarkable success with six residents' autonomy committees from six neighborhoods selected as excellent cases in three fields: residents' autonomy, regional revitalization, and special contests, winning one grand prize, two excellence awards, and three encouragement awards in the finals.

In the residents' autonomy category, Yongbong-dong received the Prime Minister's Award, the grand prize, for its case ‘The Model of Realizing Village Agendas! Yongbonggol Residents' Autonomy Process,’ highly praised for developing and operating a local community model and systematically promoting a five-year village plan.

Samgak-dong won an excellence award for ‘A Happy Pinwheel Village Where Generations, Environment, and Regeneration Circulate through Autonomy,’ and Maegok-dong received an encouragement award for ‘Harmony Drawn by Maehwa Village - Residents' General Assembly, Living Lab, Village Enterprise.’

In the regional revitalization category, Unam 1-dong won an excellence award for ‘Unam 1-dong’s Unique Woo Young-woo Story,’ focusing on building a self-sustaining organization network, and Im-dong won an encouragement award for ‘Budri Baseball Village, a Good Neighborhood Drawn by Residents.’

Additionally, Unam 2-dong’s ‘Breaking Through the Unam Railroad 9·9·9 Track, Connecting People’ received an encouragement award in the special contest category.
