Hearts United Through Sports... Busan Education Office Holds Soccer Camp Praying for Unification
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold the ‘Turn Toward Busan-Cup: Unification Prayer Soccer Camp’ for 22 students, including North Korean defector students from across the country, at the Busan Temporary Capital Government Complex for two days starting from the 10th.
‘Turn Toward Busan’ is an event commemorating the UN soldiers who died in the Korean War, held annually on November 11 at 11 a.m. with a moment of silence.
The camp is held as part of the Turn Toward Busan event to inform students about the importance of spreading a consensus on unification and to develop their unification capabilities.
The camp will be attended by a total of 22 students, including 14 students from North Korean defector schools nationwide such as Yeomyeong School, Nambuk Sarang School, Dream School, and Woorideul School, as well as 8 students from Shinho Middle School, a unification research school in Busan, who will engage in activities praying for unification.
On the 10th, the students will explore the Busan Temporary Capital Government Complex, Amidong Monument Culture Village, and other sites of the wartime capital Busan, and visit the UN Peace Park to hold a memorial time for war veterans.
On the 11th, starting with a kickoff by Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, at Baegunpo Sports Park, there will be a futsal clinic by professional players from Gumi FC and a soccer tournament wishing for unification. A memorial moment of silence will also be held at 11 a.m.
