KOSPI Gains Nearly 1% as Institutional Buying Momentum Strengthens
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] The KOSPI index continued its steady trend into the afternoon session on the 7th. In particular, with strong buying from institutions, the KOSPI is showing an increase of nearly 1%.
As of 1:18 PM, the KOSPI index stood at 2,369.76, up 0.91% (21.33 points) compared to the previous trading day. The index opened the session at 2,360.22, up 0.50% (11.79 points) from the previous day.
By investor type, individual investors sold stocks worth 264.1 billion KRW net. In contrast, foreigners and institutions bought stocks worth 46.9 billion KRW and 211.1 billion KRW, respectively.
Among the top 10 companies by market capitalization, all stocks except LG Energy Solution (-1.01%) and NAVER (-0.86%) recorded gains. These include Samsung Electronics (1.52%), Samsung Biologics (1.72%), SK Hynix (2.13%), Samsung SDI (1.09%), LG Chem (1.01%), Samsung Electronics Preferred (1.13%), Hyundai Motor (3.37%), and Kia (2.60%).
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index stood at 698.88, up 0.72% (4.99 points) from the previous trading day. The KOSDAQ opened at 696.22, up 0.34% (2.33 points) from the previous day.
By investor type, individuals and foreigners are net buyers of stocks worth 13.6 billion KRW and 33.4 billion KRW, respectively. Meanwhile, institutions sold stocks worth 46.9 billion KRW.
The top 10 companies by market capitalization showed mixed trends. Celltrion Healthcare (0.15%), Kakao Games (1.16%), Pearl Abyss (2.23%), Celltrion Pharm (0.31%), and Rino Industries (1.98%) recorded gains. On the other hand, EcoPro BM (-1.91%), L&F (-2.62%), HLB (-0.53%), EcoPro (-0.58%), and Chunbo (-2.37%) showed declines.
