Gwangju Seo-gu Holds Infectious Disease Response Medical Council Agreement Ceremony and Meeting
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim I-gang) announced on the 4th that it held the 'Seo-gu Infectious Disease Response Medical Council' agreement ceremony and meeting at the Seo-gu Office Ieum Hall.
At the agreement ceremony, Mayor Kim I-gang, Seo-gu Council Chairperson Ko Kyung-ae, Seo-gu Pharmacists Association President Kim Dong-jin, and heads of 11 medical institutions attended and agreed to join forces to strengthen infectious disease medical response.
The council plans to establish a response system according to the infectious disease outbreak situation and patient occurrence trends, build a hotline for rapid medical measures and transport cooperation in emergencies such as emergency patient occurrences, and manage special beds by medical department in preparation for infectious disease outbreaks.
During the subsequent meeting, they shared the major occurrences and response status of COVID-19 so far, and discussed emergency response systems and bed expansion plans in case of emergencies, plans to expand human and material resources, and measures to strengthen quarantine and medical response in infection-vulnerable facilities.
In particular, as the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is increasing along with influenza, they also discussed ways to increase prescriptions of oral therapeutics for high-risk groups in preparation for the twin-demic and to raise vaccination rates.
A public health center official said, "We expect that through the activation of the Seo-gu Infectious Disease Response Medical Council, practical measures will be prepared to prevent the spread of infectious diseases within the local community and to respond efficiently to infectious diseases."
