View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] On the morning of the 1st, President Yoon Seok-yeol paid his respects at the joint memorial altar for the victims of the 'Itaewon Halloween Crowd Crush Disaster' set up at Noksapyeong Station Plaza in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
After presiding over the Cabinet meeting at the Yongsan Presidential Office that morning, President Yoon visited the joint memorial altar with Cabinet members, offering flowers and observing a moment of silence.
In the condolence book, President Yoon wrote, "There is no way to measure the sorrow and grief. We will do our best to ensure that such a tragedy never happens again."
He then walked to the memorial space in front of Exit 1 of Itaewon Station on Subway Line 6, one block away, where he looked over the condolence messages citizens had written on Post-it notes and attached.
He also revisited the alley next to the Hamilton Hotel, where the disaster occurred on the 29th of last month. Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, ministers and vice ministers from various departments, Presidential Chief of Staff Kim Dae-gi, and National Security Office Director Kim Sung-han accompanied him during the condolence visit and site inspection.
President Yoon had previously visited the Itaewon accident site on the 30th of last month, the day after the incident. On the morning of the 31st, he visited the joint memorial altar set up at the plaza in front of Seoul City Hall with his wife, First Lady Kim Kun-hee, and presidential office aides to pay respects.

Meanwhile, at the Cabinet meeting that day, President Yoon emphasized, "Accident and disaster response must be thorough and meticulous," urging Cabinet members to take responsibility and conduct careful inspections. After the national mourning period, he plans to preside over a meeting to review the national safety system with relevant ministers and experts.
