BOK Appoints Chief Jo Jung-tae as Executive Member of OECD National Accounts Meeting

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] The Bank of Korea announced on the 1st that Choi Jeong-tae, Head of the National Accounts Division at the Economic Statistics Bureau, was appointed as an executive member at the 2022 OECD National Accounts Meeting (WPNA) held in Paris, France on the 28th of last month.
The OECD WPNA is an annual meeting held every year in Paris, France, attended by national accounts experts from international organizations such as the OECD, United Nations (UN), International Monetary Fund (IMF), Eurostat (EUROSTAT), and OECD member countries, where major issues related to national accounts are discussed.
Starting from January next year until January 2025, Mr. Choi will participate in the OECD WPNA as an executive member, deciding on various matters including the selection of national accounts-related agendas and scheduling.
The OECD WPNA Executive Committee is composed of national accounts experts from six countries including Korea, the United Kingdom, Spain, Belgium, Canada, and Costa Rica.

The Bank of Korea stated, "This appointment recognizes the excellence of our country's capabilities in compiling national accounts statistics such as GDP," and added, "It is evaluated as having established conditions for the Bank of Korea to proactively reflect our country's position in future international discussions."
