Gwangyang Steelworks to Continue ‘Sincere Volunteer Activities’ Systematically
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seonsik] POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks (Director Lee Jinsu) announced that it held a joint volunteer service with Gwangyang City around Jungdong Neighborhood Park in Jungmadong, Gwangyang City.
The volunteer service was attended by Gwangyang Mayor Jeong Inhwa, Gwangyang Steelworks Director Lee Jinsu, Gwangyang City Council Chairman Seo Youngbae, Jeollanam-do Council Vice Chairman Kim Taegyun, as well as heads of social contribution partner organizations and volunteers.
The joint volunteer activity is an event initiated by Gwangyang Steelworks to approach volunteer work from the perspective of beneficiaries to provide more practical benefits and to take the lead in spreading a culture of sharing within the region. This activity was the ninth of this year.
A total of 18 Gwangyang Steelworks talent volunteer groups, together with Gwangyang City, set up 35 booths so that participants could enjoy various programs in a pleasant environment.

▲Traditional Play Talent Volunteer Group ▲Heart Connection Flower Arrangement Talent Volunteer Group ▲Hope Tree Woodcraft Talent Volunteer Group ▲Coding Education Talent Volunteer Group provided children with experiences such as making jegi (Korean shuttlecock), woodworking, jumping clay, and coding experiential learning to help children grow through experience.
In addition, ▲First Aid Talent Volunteer Group ▲Greener Environment Talent Volunteer Group ▲Plastic Bank Talent Volunteer Group ▲Traffic Signal Traffic Talent Volunteer Group provided safety and environment-related experiences to children and adolescents, raising awareness of environment and safety, while ▲Green Talent Volunteer Group carried out environmental cleaning volunteer work to ensure the event proceeded comfortably.
In particular, ▲Freedom Acoustic Guitar Talent Volunteer Group ▲Forever Orchestra Talent Volunteer Group ▲Laughter & Magic Talent Volunteer Group attracted more attention by leading this joint volunteer service into a culturally complex festival by providing high-quality performances to citizens.
Lee Jinsu, Director of Gwangyang Steelworks, said, “I thank many volunteer members for participating in today’s volunteer service,” and added, “Going forward, Gwangyang Steelworks will systematically carry out sincere volunteer activities that wipe away the tears of the underprivileged who need help.”
