Finding a Strategy for a Digital Marine Finance Hub... Busan City Hosts 2022 Busan Marine & Finance Week
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The 2022 Busan Maritime Finance Week (BMFW) will be held for two days from November 1 to 2 at the Haeundae Paradise Hotel.
This event has been held separately by maritime finance-related organizations to explore specialized strategies in the maritime finance sector, enabling Busan to leap forward as a digital financial hub, and has been integrated and held since 2021. This year as well, Busan City, Korea Ocean Business Corporation, Financial Supervisory Service, and Marine Money jointly host the event.
With domestic and international maritime finance experts attending, institutional events will proceed starting with the opening ceremony at 11 a.m. on the 1st. The event aims to share rapidly changing global maritime finance industry trends and response directions, and to seek policy directions to enhance the competitiveness of Busan's digital financial industry.
At the opening ceremony, James Lawrence, chairman of Marine Money, the world's largest specialized publication in ship finance, will deliver the keynote speech, and Professor Manolis G. Kavussanos of the University of Athens will give a special lecture via video conference.
On the afternoon of the first day, the '2022 KOBC Maritime Conference' hosted by Korea Ocean Business Corporation will discuss trends and prospects in three sessions covering global ship finance, the shipping industry, dry bulk carriers, and tanker markets.
Following this, the '2022 Busan Maritime Finance Convention' hosted by the Financial Supervisory Service will cover the latest global trends in maritime finance and maritime industry responses to carbon neutrality in two sessions.
On the second day, the '2022 Korea Ship Finance Forum' hosted by Marine Money will hold three sessions where domestic and international speakers will share knowledge on understanding ship demand flows amid global inflation and low growth, the impact of recessions in major advanced countries on the shipbuilding industry, and the future of Korean ship finance.
