[Itaewon Tragedy] Ongoing Gyeongnam Festival to Be 'Scaled Down'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Gyeongsangnam-do has decided to scale down or completely cancel four ongoing festivals to mourn those who lost their lives in the Itaewon accident and to ensure the safety of its residents.
The 22nd Masan Chrysanthemum Festival, held from the 28th of last month to November 6, will proceed as planned, but entry to the festival grounds will be prohibited after 6 PM with no nighttime opening.
The Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival, held from the 10th to the 31st of this month, will cancel all other performance-related events and only keep the lanterns lit.
The Uiryeong Rich Rich Festival, held from the 28th to the 31st of last month, will operate only booths related to local specialties and suspend all other events, including youth performances.
The Geoje Island Flower Festival, scheduled from the 29th of last month to November 6, will focus on exhibition events and reduce cultural performances.
To prepare for any emergencies during performances, 21 additional safety personnel have been deployed, and emergency exits have been further secured with the cooperation of police and fire authorities.
