President Biden issued a statement on the 29th (local time), saying, "I send my deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in Seoul," and added, "We mourn with the Korean people and wish for the speedy recovery of the injured."
He continued, "The alliance between our two countries is more vibrant and energetic than ever, and the bonds between our peoples are stronger than ever," adding, "The United States will stand with Korea during this tragic time."
Jake Sullivan, White House National Security Advisor, also tweeted, "My heart aches over the reports coming out of Seoul," and said, "The United States is ready to provide any support Korea needs."
Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, mentioned the crush disaster on his Twitter account, stating, "On behalf of the Canadian people, I send my deepest condolences to the Korean people."
Rishi Sunak, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, wrote on Twitter, "Our thoughts are with all Koreans facing this very painful time and those currently responding to the incident."
Olaf Scholz, Chancellor of Germany, also tweeted, "We are all shocked by the tragic event that occurred in Seoul. I extend my condolences to the numerous victims and their families," adding, "It is a sad day for Korea. Germany will stand by them."
Emmanuel Macron, President of France, expressed on Twitter, "I send my sincere condolences to the Korean people and the residents of Seoul over the tragedy that happened in Itaewon," and said, "France will be by your side."
Ukraine, which is at war with Russia, also expressed condolences.
