Boseong-gun Establishes Footing for Entry into European Market through France
Targeting the Premium Car Market, MOU Signed with Two French Companies
New Achievements Draw Attention Including Export of Eco-friendly Boseong Rice and Vinegar Park Black Vinegar
[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do has officially started efforts to enter the French and European markets with its representative agricultural products such as Boseong tea (cha) and Boseong rice.
On the 18th, to diversify its global portfolio, Kim Cheol-woo, the governor of Boseong-gun, who participated in the French Food Expo, signed MOUs on the 19th with two companies: AceFood SAS and Dalious SAS.
The MOU signing took place at the Boseong-gun Tea Producers Cooperative promotional booth at the French Food Expo. The main contents include distribution and sales of Boseong agricultural specialty products in the European market and cooperation in cultural exchange projects.
New achievements are also notable. Through a business agreement review with Ace Mart, which had planned to export Boseong tea, they discussed new export plans for eco-friendly Boseong rice and black vinegar produced at Vinegar Park locally.
Further discussions on the scale of exports will be conducted at the working-level in the future.
Additionally, with Dalious, they plan to promote and grow Boseong tea culture worldwide through cultural exchange projects.
At the MOU signing ceremony, Kim Cheol-woo, governor of Boseong-gun, said, “I am pleased to present the premium tea cultivated by Boseong in France, a country of culture and arts.” He added, “With these two companies equipped with capabilities in distribution and cultural exchange, we plan to actively promote Boseong tea and other products in the local premium market through this business agreement.”
On the 21st, Governor Kim Cheol-woo and related officials, who established a foothold for exporting agricultural specialty products including Boseong tea, held a tasting event of four types of high-quality Boseong leaf teas (Ujeon, Sejak, Jungjak, Black tea) at Salon de Th? located in downtown Nantes.
This tasting event, conducted as a local market test for entering the French premium tea market, confirmed the potential in the European market as the samples prepared by Boseong-gun were sold out.
Boseong-gun plans not only to enter the European market for agricultural specialty products but also to promote mutual exchanges with local governments in France along with exploring advanced marine leisure facilities to realize the ‘Boseong-type Blue Economy.’
Meanwhile, the ‘Boseong-gun Tea Producers Cooperative,’ participating in the SIAL Expo for the first time, is a company established by investment from 600 farms. It provides various services including processing and sourcing of green tea, black tea, and substitute teas, as well as ODM & OEM production. They introduced over 40 varieties of Boseong tea produced from seven tea plantations and held export consultation meetings.
