Gwangju National Science Museum Holds 2022 Ethics and Human Rights Management Committee Meeting
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The National Gwangju Science Museum announced on the 24th that it held the '2022 Ethics and Human Rights Management Committee' to pledge and practice human rights-respecting institutional management in celebration of its 9th anniversary.
The committee was composed of four internal members including the chairman, who is the director, and a representative of the workers, as well as external members consisting of related experts Professor Naju Mong from Chonnam National University and labor attorney Kim Tae-su from Jeil Human Resources and Labor Law Firm.
The committee reported on the 2022 ethics and human rights management implementation plan of the Gwangju Science Museum and set the vision as 'Establishing a culture of human rights respect in daily life through practice, harmony, and sustainability,' with three core indicators: human rights respect in daily life, organic organizational harmony, and sustainable human rights management.
They also discussed three major strategies to implement this: ▲Creating a human rights-respecting ecosystem ▲Human rights management that resonates with the public ▲Establishing a human rights culture permeated in daily life, along with detailed tasks.
Acting Director Jeon Tae-ho said, “This year, the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act for public officials is being enforced externally, and the standard model for ethical management in public institutions is being established, emphasizing the fairness and public ethics of institutions. In line with this, the National Gwangju Science Museum aims to strengthen responsible and ethical management, practice 'sustainable management' that can accompany the public throughout their lives for a better future, and create a human rights-friendly institutional culture where all employees communicate organically and harmoniously with mutual respect.”
Meanwhile, since establishing the National Gwangju Science Museum Human Rights Management Charter in 2018 and holding the 'Human Rights Management Proclamation Ceremony' where all employees gathered to reaffirm their commitment to human rights management, the museum has strived for effective practice beyond slogans.
