According to the report, a Druv upgraded light helicopter belonging to the army went missing in the mountainous area of Upper Siang, Arunachal Pradesh in the northeast the previous day. Military authorities immediately dispatched a search team to the area upon the missing report and found the wreckage of the crashed helicopter along with the bodies of four occupants. One person who was on board remains missing. The exact cause of the accident has not been disclosed.

Since 2009, there have been 12 aircraft crashes in Arunachal Pradesh alone, resulting in 90 deaths.
