China Applies Military Pressure Ahead of Party Congress... Taiwan Detects 23 Military Aircraft
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] The Chinese military is increasing military pressure on Taiwan ahead of the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party scheduled for the 16th.
Taiwan's Liberty Times (自由時報) and Taiwan News reported on the 15th, citing a statement from Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense, that by 5 p.m. the previous day, the Taiwanese military detected 23 military aircraft and 5 warships belonging to the Chinese People's Liberation Army around Taiwan. According to Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense, among the 23 PLA aircraft, one Su-30 fighter jet crossed the median line at the northern Taiwan Strait, and three J-11 jets entered the southwestern airspace of Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). The Taiwanese military immediately scrambled fighter jets, issued warning broadcasts, and activated air defense missile systems to track the aircraft.
