Elon Musk Launches Men's Perfume... "Sold 1.4 Billion KRW Worth in Less Than a Day"
Launching 'Burnt Hair' Perfume Product Name Through Subsidiary Boring Company
Also Changed Twitter Bio to 'Perfume Seller'
[Asia Economy Culture Young Intern Reporter] Tesla CEO Elon Musk has launched a men's fragrance called 'Burnt Hair' through his subsidiary The Boring Company.
On the 12th (local time), Musk posted on his Twitter a promotional message calling it "the best fragrance on Earth" along with the link to The Boring Company's perfume sales site. The Boring Company is a tunnel startup founded by Musk in 2016.
He tweeted, "For someone with a name like mine (Musk), entering the perfume business was inevitable," jokingly reminding that his name is the same as the musk scent used in perfumes.
He also added promotional phrases such as "Payment available with Dogecoin," "Omnigender product," and "It can't shine any brighter." He even changed his Twitter bio to "Perfume Salesman."
Earlier, Musk had announced last month that "The Boring Company will release a men's fragrance that will make people stand out."
He also boasted that less than a day after starting perfume sales, he sold 10,000 bottles worth 1 million dollars (about 1.43 billion won). 'Burnt Hair' is priced at 100 dollars per bottle and can also be purchased using Dogecoin, the cryptocurrency Musk has supported for product payments. Shipping is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2023.
