Assemblywoman Yang Jeong-sook: "322 Cases of Substitute Driver Insurance Payment Disputes in 5 Years"
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] The number of insurance claim disputes related to designated driver insurance received over the past five years amounted to 322 cases.
According to data on the "Status of Insurance Claim Disputes for Designated Driver Insurance" submitted by the Financial Supervisory Service to National Assembly Financial Services Committee member Yang Jeongsuk on the 13th, the number of insurance accident reports related to designated driver insurance received by the Financial Supervisory Service from 2018 to the end of August 2022 reached 217,352 cases.
Among these, the number of disputes related to claim payments was 322 cases.
Among the total 217,352 insurance accident reports, KB Insurance accounted for 121,097 cases, representing 55.7%. Following that, DB Insurance accounted for 69,728 cases, or 32%. Most of the payment-related disputes are also known to have occurred at these two companies.

Assembly member Yang Jeongsuk pointed out, "KB Insurance and DB Insurance handle this insurance more than other insurers, so more disputes have occurred. The inconvenience to consumers is expected to increase proportionally with the number of disputes, so special management and supervision are necessary from the perspective of consumer protection."
