National Gwangju Science Museum Hosts the 32nd Phil Science Lecture
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The National Gwangju Science Museum will hold the 32nd Phil Science Lecture titled "The Path to a Plastic-Free Society" at 1 PM on the 15th in the Science Museum Imagination Hall.
This lecture will invite Hong Soo-yeol, director of the Resource Circulation Social Economy Research Institute and winner of the 2021 Environmental Foundation's "People Who Brightened the World" award in the environmental category, to address various common knowledge related to waste in order to solve the overflowing plastic waste problem.
Director Hong is well known as the "Waste Doctor" and waste commentator who runs the YouTube channel "Help Me, Waste Doctor," helping people overcome waste illiteracy including plastic waste.
He covers theories, systems, policies, and fieldwork related to waste and actively engages in various activities such as campaigns for recycling used cartridges to solve waste problems.
Jeon Tae-ho, acting director, said, "Through this lecture, we hope it will be an opportunity to help citizens understand the essential knowledge we must know to protect the Earth and to live in a plastic-free era," adding, "We also encourage many to visit the successfully running special exhibition '2050 Carbon Zero City.'"
This lecture is limited to the first 150 people who make advance reservations through the science museum's website online booking system, and anyone from children to adults can participate free of charge.
Meanwhile, the museum is holding the special exhibition "2050 Carbon Zero City," where visitors can explore carbon neutrality through various experiences, until December 4.
